 Located on Nelson Avenue in Warren, Minnesota, Mick’s Bar, Grill & Off Sale is known for their amazing burgers and fries. In June 2023, Mick’s Bar, Grill & Off Sale was sold by Jan and Mick Riopelle after 27 years of business. Even before the Riopelle’s, the location was a restaurant and bar with various owners since the 1960s.

The new co-owners, Cody Kobetsky and Whitley Fedt, are expanding on what Jan and Mick established. They plan on growing the business into a sports bar, with more TV’s, surround sound, and gaming. Join them on Sunday’s starting on September 10th, coinciding with football season.

Cody has worked as a bartender at different locations and also has a background in sales. Last year, he saw that Mick’s Bar, Grill & Off Sale was short staffed and offered to help out a couple days a week. He said, “I fell in love with it once again. You get to visit with new people every day. A lot of people don't think of it as a sales job, but that's really what you're there to do.”


Frequent Customers Become Owners

Living in the area, Cody and Whitley frequented Mick’s Bar, Grill & Off Sale. When it was brought to his attention that the Riopelle’s wanted to sell and retire, Cody knew what a staple in the Warren community the business has been. He elaborated, “The environment that Mick’s Bar, Grill & Off Sale provided to the community. I would like to continue to grow that. It just felt right.”

The Riopelle’s had a well established relationship with Robin Hood Business Services. Since Cody worked at Mick’s Bar, Grill & Off Sale, he was familiar with the current POS system. He liked it, but wanted additional enhancements for sales tracking and reporting, and also to incorporate gift cards. Thus, Cody decided to switch to the OVVI POS System, offered through Robin Hood Business Services.

Cody is excited to see the reporting from the OVVI system which will provide a ranking of their menu items. Using that data, he’s planning on adjusting the menu. He’s also looking at offering online ordering in the future. Currently, they do have take out.


Ease of Transition

Delilah and Derek, from Robin Hood Business Services, have been the main contacts for Mick’s Bar, Grill & Off Sale. Although Cody was familiar with using POS systems, he didn’t have any knowledge of how everything worked behind the scenes. He remarked, “Delilah has been a gem for us. I definitely had plenty of questions for her. If she didn't know the answer, she was willing to find them, and get back to me. These are the people I want to work with because they’re taking care of me.”

He also explained, “They were able to get OVVI in early, before we went live on June 1st, so I could give the employee’s time to learn the system. Derek came in to give the training, and helped with any issues that came up. He was very efficient, and I think that was great. It was something that they didn't have to do, but allowed us to have an easier transition.”
